Effective Monday, December 7, 2020, and at a minimum through the end of December 2020, the California Secretary of State's office will temporarily suspend lobby pick up and expedite/preclearance services. All expedites dropped off on Friday, December 4, 2020, or prior will be processed and mailed back to the submitter upon completion.

CA SOS Closes Early due to Excessive Heat Warnings

The California Secretary of State will be closing the Sacramento lobby at 3 p.m. starting Monday, August 17, until Wednesday, August 19, due to multiple Excessive Heat Warnings and the need to reduce energy demand during peak hours. Daily pick up will be between 2:00 - 2:30 p.m.

California Update – Assembly Bill 85 Exempts Payment of Minimum Annual Franchise Tax Payment

California Assembly Bill 85 was signed by the governor and, effective June 29, exempts a limited partnership (LP), limited liability company (LLC) and limited liability partnership (LLP) that files, registers or organizes to do business in California from paying the annual minimum franchise tax of $800 in its first taxable year for tax years beginning January 1, 2020 and before January 1, 2024.
